An excellent antique Hepplewhite tall case clock, by Allen Kelley, probably Provincetown, Mass. circa 1819. The case attributed to Eliphalet Edson, Yarmouth, Mass.
This superior example of a provincial Roxbury type case, with delicate fret and French feet, exhibits choice mahogany panels with vibrant cross banding. The case is attributed to cabientmaker Eliphalet Edson from the Cape Cod town of Yarmouth. See illustration in "Harbor & Home, Furniture of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1710-1850"" P. 24. The signed dial has a richly painted lunette with a foliate and blossom decoration. The brass movement is of eight day duration and is in fine running condition.
