A Fine Chippendale Cherry Oxbow Chest of Drawers Chapin School, Central Connecticut, circa 1770.

This chest features excellent proportions in an agreeable small size. It has a rich historic surface and superb Chippendale hardware. The chest rests on dramatic ogee bracket feet with blocked knees and flared cuffs. The form of feet help to identify the piece as from the Chapin school of cabinetmakers who prospered in central Connecticut during the last half of the 18th Century.
The conforming cherry top has a reverse-serpentine front and a molded edge that tapers to a fine edge. The top is above four graduated drawers with cock-bead edges. Each drawer is fitted with original period Chippendale brass pulls and escutcheons. The oxbow and blocked drawers are above a conforming molded apron and four distinctive ogee bracket feet.
Dimensions:  Case width 34" Depth 20"; Height 32” Top Width 36 ¼”.
