This very attractive Queen Anne antique candle stand has a diminutive form with excellent proportions. The square top has pleasing serpentine shaped sides and rounded corners. The fixed top rests on a turned post with a simple baluster above a suppressed vase and ring. The base of the post connects to three delicate cabriole legs with chipped carved edges. The slender legs join padded slipper feet with raised ridges. The fine patina, with superb cherry color, combined with the delicate scroll to the top, and succinct form of the legs, distinguish this a wonderful example of a form that is sometimes referred to as a “snake foot candle stand”.
