This antique miniature chest of drawers is beautifully constructed of fine mahogany and mahogany veneers. The accurate proportions combined with the superior quality of the construction and materials suggest that the piece was produced by an accomplished cabinetmaker. The overhanging top has cookie corners and a shaped backsplash above an ogee blind drawer. The blind drawer is trimmed with a border of drop acorns above three graduated drawers. The drawer fronts have vibrant book-matched mahogany veneers and wood pulls. The sides of the case have figured mahogany panels. The front corners are outset and have applied half round turnings. The chest sits on turned disk feet. The secondary woods are mostly poplar with some white pine indicating that the piece was likely made in New York.
